The Academy was established in 1993 after Sharon returned home from a career dancing professionally in Europe. Over the  years the Academy has grown both in size and reputation.

 

The aim of the Academy is to encourage all the students to fulfil their potential whatever their age and ability and by encouraging the students whether they wish to take examinations or to dance for fun.

 

Some students from the Academy have appeared over the years in both Stan Stennets and Owen Money Pantomimes, at the world famous outdoor theatre at Minack and with the English Ballet with many more going on to study musical theatre and dance at university

Students are taken from age 3 upwards and cover the Bbo Dance Syllabus in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz with students able to take exams in all genres

Adult tap is also available for the novice up to the more advanced tapper

 

Musical Theatre is taught in the academy with musical theatre group this is a non-syllabus group that studies acting, movement and singing during the session, the sessions are fun, friendly and encouraging giving students the chance to express themselves. Students from this class often preform with Centrestage Cymru an adult musical theatre company which Sharon is one of the founder members

And the Bbo dance Musical Theatre syllabus class where students undertake the Bbo Musical Theatre Primary, Grade 1 and Grade 2 exams

 

The academy was chosen by the Bbo dance to undertake a trial Musical Theatre grade 1 exam this was held in January 2017.

 

History was made in May 2017 when students of the academy were the first in Britain to take the Grade 1 Musical Theatre exam   

 

  

The academy holds regular workshops for the students with many of teachers coming from west end shows, and ballet companies.

 

All dance students have the opportunity to perform in the annual school showcase at the Dolman Theatre every July.
